Art In the Open: Diego Chavez, Flow State Twilight Installation Showcase

Explore the intersection of art, technology, and nature at the Twilight Installation Showcase of Flow State, the culmination of an immersive workshop series designed and led by artist Diego Chavez for Art In the Open at Confluence Park. Attendance is FREE!

Thursday, October 23 | 7:00–9:00 PM | BHP Pavilion

As the sun sets, the pavilion becomes a vibrant canvas celebrating the convergence of nature, technology, and community:

  • Participant Creations: Each workshop participant will present a unique visual projection responding to ambient soundscapes by Jevonchi, featuring environmental recordings and atmospheric beats.
  • Projection Mapping: Live projection will transform the pavilion’s architecture into a dynamic art piece, complemented by interactive satellite zones inviting audience participation.
  • Immersive Soundscapes: Blended natural and digital sounds will create a captivating audio environment.

Join us to reimagine the relationship between technology, creativity, and the natural world in this unforgettable series and showcase.

Diego Chavez is a digital media artist and technologist exploring the resonance between natural phenomena and computational systems. His work weaves together ambient soundscapes and generative visuals, creating immersive experiences that bridge organic and digital realms. Through live coding performances and AI-assisted art, he transforms environmental patterns into flowing digital landscapes, inviting audiences to explore the delicate interplay between nature, technology, and human experience. His recent work investigates how computational systems can mirror natural processes, using code as a medium to reflect the rhythms and cycles found in nature. Art In the Open is a San Antonio River Foundation initiative and program to support artists and engage the San Antonio River community and our visitors with contemporary art experiences. Artists are invited to present projects at Confluence Park that align with San Antonio River Foundation’s mission to enhance the river as a vibrant cultural experience and promote and encourage the conservation, stewardship, and enjoyment of the San Antonio River Basin.

Your Generosity Has Changed Your World

Since 2003, our Foundation has privately raised and reinvested over $43 million dollars in enhancing your San Antonio River experience. Our project partners —the San Antonio River Authority, Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, and the US Army Corps of Engineers — have invested over $789 million in river improvements for our community. Together, our investments have added over $3.6 billion in economic impact through adjacent private investment and development.
