    I-35 Overpass near Camden Street

    It’s hard not to smile at Philadelphia artist Donald Lipski’s school of giant fish swimming through the sky beneath the interstate overpass. The cluster of 25 seven-foot-long creatures of hand-painted fiberglass resin are anatomically correct models of long-eared sunfish, native to the river. Impressive by day and stunningly lit from within at night, the glowing fish are a beacon from blocks away, adding color and levity to a once neglected downtown area. A 26th fish is on display in The DoSeum, San Antonio's Museum for Kids, offering an up-close view of the installation’s vibrant detailing.

    COMMISSIONED PUBLIC ART
    The San Antonio River Foundation commissioned and funded public artworks for the benefit of our community and in support of our partners in the $384M San Antonio River Improvements Project. All works along the Mission Reach have been donated to the City of San Antonio's public art collection in perpetuity.

    River Foundation Fiesta Medal Unveiling & Flotilla Registration

    On Saturday, March 16th you can be THE FIRST to pin our 2019 Fiesta Medal to your sash. We’ve hinted at the design for nearly a year, but now you can see it (and own one) in real life!

    Medals are $10 each, we accept credit card only (no cash sales). There are very limited quantities at the unveiling, only 100 for sale at this event.

    This is also your chance to learn about our upcoming Official Fiesta Event, 4th Annual Mission Reach Flotilla Fiesta. This awesome event has the only water parade on the San Antonio River Mission Reach that is open to the public! You could have your very own float by joining our 80s-themed costume contest for cash prizes. More information and in-person registration will be at this event. Registration is free.
     
    Anyone who registers to be in the Flotilla Fiesta parade/costume contest during this event will receive a Fiesta medal from previous years.
